Who am I?
I created my first website using HTML in 1996 from what I learned in a book. The idea of creating something the world could see fascinated me, so I took my first class in HTML a year later and participated in a web design apprenticeship after school.
Following high school, I attended and graduated from Ohio University with degrees in Finance and Management Information Systems. My degree in business strengthened my ability to handle large work loads, estimate projects, and perform well in teams. I continued to educate myself in web design during college by building sites for student organizations, participating in user groups, and working freelance after classes.
I left Ohio in 2006 and accepted a job in Chicago at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as a forensics analyst. For about two years I traveled and gained experience in consulting, problem solving, leadership, and adapted quickly to a multitude of different technical requests. During that time I also continued my freelance web design business at night and took classes at Depaul University. Oh yes, and I got engaged to my beautiful girlfriend of six years and we got a dog named Cooper.
Eventually I realized that my true passion was in web developing and decided it was time to switch careers. I accepted a position at Imagination Publishing as a web developer in April of 2008. This allowed me to excel in web design both during the day and at night when working freelance.
Life happened though, and my fiancé received a job opportunity in Pittsburgh where both our families live. It was a move we could not pass up, so I left Imagination Publishing in August of 2008. Imagination understood my reasons for leaving and offered me an open contract to continue working with them as a freelancer, which I happily accepted.
Moving back to Pittsburgh gave me the opportunity to freelance full-time which is what I do today. When not working on websites, you can usually find me with my wife and our dog. I also love to go on the occasional backpacking trip, run, bike, or just relax and have a cold one with friends.
